DANIEL Nash will be the man in the hot seat when Wollongong FC take on Sydney Olympic in round two of the NSW Premier League at Belmore Sports Ground on Saturday night.
With first-choice keeper Justin Pasfield having left Australia with the Olyroos yesterday for Monday's under 23 international against Mexico in San Francisco, Nash will take over between the posts. After playing in the youth grade last weekend, Nash's elevation to the top team will provide the youngster with a big test.Pasfield didn't have to make a save in last weekend's 0-0 draw with Penrith Nepean United, a fate Nash is unlikely to have fall his way against an Olympic side which started the season as title challengers.Wollongong coach John Turner wished Pasfield all the best in his Olympic endeavours and said he would wait to see the under 23 team's schedule before considering looking for another keeper."It is only squads of 18 for the Olympics, so I would say they will only take two keepers," he said."For Justin it is great, if he makes it to the Olympics he would go with my blessing, I'm encouraging all my players to try and better themselves."Turner said Sydney Olympic, who started their season with a shock 3-1 loss to West Sydney Berries, would be hurting."I am not saying we can't beat them, but (I) am asking if they will lose two straight, including one on their home ground," he said.Turner said he was considering changing the system his players employ, for a match sure to test their early season credentials.
